17 Reasons You Shouldn't Avoid Robots That Vacuum And Mop

Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you can decide to let the robot clean up the living and kitchen areas but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation tech are superb, with the robot being able to detect tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only issue it has is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks need to be done like emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is capable of operating for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is can last for 136 minutes in standard mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model, this one features two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners may miss.

Like the two other Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It is able to change its path automatically and clean the objects without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is striking, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process mop button, which doubles as a child lock and a home-button that can bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed) but it's a challenge to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power and cutting-edge mopping capabilities. Its innovative design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and food particles. It also comes with a top-quality mop that makes hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad.  automated vacuum cleaner  is also very quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.

The X40 has an additional side brush that can be extended and lifted. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture with curved edges like chairs and table legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile which makes it a great option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that allows the X40 to prevent damage to floors from the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or separately. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and understand and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It will also tell you if the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it spills.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market and comes with many additional features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature of its mops, uses two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is beneficial because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen before on other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home clean longer.

There are a lot of options, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has many options for customising your cleaning routine. It also comes with many functions that are not available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white design that is elegant and stylish. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is also well designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
